Glenthorne Holidays Weymouth, bed and breakfast weymouth, b and b weymouth, b and b, self catering accommodation, self catering accomodation, weymouth b and b, b and b Portland
The
main house was built over one hundred years ago as a rectory but is now
a family home offering B & B Weymouth in elegantly decorated, antique
furnished rooms. To
one side of the house are three apartments, decorated and equipped to an
extremely high standard. Within the extensive gardens there are many features
to help you enjoy your stay. These include picnic tables, summer house,
heated swimming pool, raised decking with fine views, wendy house, table
tennis, trampoline and other garden games. Glenthorne
B & B Weymouth is ideally situated for those interested in sailing,
diving, windsurfing, fishing and birdwatching, with Castle
Cove Sailing Club on our doorstep and Weymouth
Sailing Centre a short drive away. Also close by are delightful ornamental
gardens and the ruins of Sandsfoot
Castle built by Henry VIII.
Lying directly on the coastal path, easy walks to B & B Weymouth, Portland
and Chesil can begin from Glenthorne, or put on those comfortable boots for longer
panoramic
cliff walks to delightful Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Abbotsbury, Moonfleet or
Lyme Regis for the energetic!
Walk
to the lower slopes of the B & B Weymouth garden where steps will take
you directly to sheltered and sandy Castle Cove Beach, allowing clean and
safe bathing
for any age. Portland,
connected to the mainland by Chesil Bank, has a history and character of
its own. Apart from the renowned Portland
Bill Lighthouse there are spectacular clifftop walks, disused quarries
to explore, Portland
Museum, Rufus and Portland
Castles and an abundance of wildlife.
For longer trips there are many stately homes and B & B
Weymouth gardens to visit including Athelhampton, Mapperton, Kingston
Maurward and Abbotsbury,
fascinating Roman and Celtic remains in historic Dorchester and,
for the literary minded, Hardy Country and Cloud's Hill, the home of T. E. Lawrence.
Nature lovers have much to enjoy too at the several RSPB reserves, coastal conservation
areas, horseriding centres B & B
Weymouth and nearby Swannery. Monkey
World and the famous Tank
Museum at Bovington are also extremely popular.
